Silent Birth Plan

LABOUR/BIRTH
I would like my husband to be present throughout the labour/birth.
I would prefer that as few people as possible are involved, however I realize this is not always workable.
I would like to use gas and water for pain relief.
No episiotomy or caesarean except in emergency.
If a caesarean is required, I would like to be awake for the procedure.
I would prefer not to have forceps or ventouse, but in the event I do, I would prefer ventouse.
I would prefer the placenta to be delivered naturally.

SILENCE
I would prefer that everyone in the birthing suite remain quiet during the labour and delivery.
I would prefer no irrelevant conversations in the room. Noise is not such an issue as speaking in general. I understand that in case of emergency silence may not be maintainable.
I prefer that instructions and encouragement, when necessary, are given in a hushed voice into my ear. However I’d prefer instructions and updates kept to a minimum with anything communicable through hand gestures to be given as such.

BABY
I would like the baby to be given vitamin K & hepatitis B vaccinations by injection.
I would prefer the umbilical cord is cut at the latest possible time. We do not have a preference who cuts the cord.
I do not want the baby given a bottle, formula or a pacifier.
I would prefer any injections or other medical procedures spread out as much as possible.
